Pomp and Circumstance

I'm all finished! As of about 3PM today, I am officially Dr. Drescher-Burke! Bill, Molly, and I went and PHileD my dissertation. It was pretty anticlimactic, actually. I took my multiple copies of the actual dissertation and the additional paperwork, and the woman in the office checked it all and said, "I'll be right back with your receipt." She left us for a few minutes and returned with a little certificate and a lollipop (really!). I can get my actual diploma in a few months. I went with my friend last May to file, and there was a long line of people. For me, there was not even a line, probably because it is not quite the end of the semester and also because it is December, and most people finish in May. I will be posting my dissertation for everyone to read (Ha ha, just kidding. You don't even have to pretend like you want to read it.) I was pretty nervous that I had forgotten something, a signature or some form. There is a 35-page booklet with instructions on how to file!

Earlier this morning we took Molly in for her second Synagis shot. She did fine, though she screamed when the needle went in her chubby little leg.

Just a few more days until our big trip home. I am so, so excited! Molly and I are really going to miss Bill, though, for that time at the beginning of the trip when he's not going to be there with us.

Well hallelujah!!!! Congratulations Dr. Drescher-Burke for a well deserved lolipop. I will sleep better now knowing that Bill won't have to fulfill his promise of divorcing you if he graduated before you. We all wish Bill could come with you but we'll take you and Molly by yourselves for a few days if we have to.
Love you!

Congratulations, my dear Daughter-in-Law,
We are so proud of you and all of your accomplishments and know you have worked so hard. I'm still on count-down but the time is getting closer to seeing you and our precious Granddaughter. We are sooooooooo looking forward to it. I, too, certainly wish Bill could come with you but understand. You know how I truly miss him.
Love you all,
Kris
